Big Sleep - Easy

About...

Big Sleep an up and coming four-piece indie band from Dublin, Ireland, that have quickly gained a large following despite having still not yet released their debut album. With their first single dropping in 2020, a flurry of singles and EPs have attracted attention, and their new track Easy from the EP Isn’t That Sweet is just another demonstration of the enormous potential of this group

Lyrics...

Big Sleep sing about the fallacy of watching celebrities living fantastic lives ‘somewhere sunny sipping paradise’ and jealously wondering how to live this lifestyle. The band sing that they ‘need the boys and girls to adore me for me to really feel complete’, yet the returning refrain hints that they know this image is probably false and not the paradise it appears to be

Production...

A funky guitar riff rich in EQ opens the track, establishing the upbeat and groovy mood that continues throughout the song and contrasts the poignant lyrics. Easy is immediately recognisable as a Big Sleep track, with a propulsive drum beat, great guitar work, and the melancholic vocals that characterise all their work

Summary...

Easy is a catchy tune, very easy on the ear with great vocals and impressive production for such a relatively new group. The track lives up to the high musical standards the band set for itself with its previous releases and suggests we can look forward to more hits in the future
