About...
Callum Spencer is a singer-songwriter currently based in Manchester. I caught him as a last-minute support act for Starsailor’s James Walsh’s solo acoustic set, at the Old Woollen, Leeds. Callum quickly captivated the crowd with his raw and heartfelt vocals telling personal stories
Set Up...
Callum who usually performs with his Indie band stripped back to just acoustic guitar for his set, taking us through older and new tracks within his discography. He was a natural on stage with great presence performing and Whitty and entertaining within the track intervals
Set List...
The set list featured a blend of soft fingerstyle tracks with others that built into an outburst in the end. Callum’s style reminded me of James Bay with the interesting Guitar and Raw story being told. The tracks captivated the audience through intricate stories of Love and Hurt, starting, and ending the set with upbeat and uplifting tracks
Summary...
Callum showed his talent as a frontman within this stripped back performance and completely took his chance to showcase his talents. Announcing a gig with his band next year Callum really is one to keep an ear on from upbeat tracks to introspective lyrics
