When it comes to bumps in the night or the supernatural, you tend to think of horror films, not beautiful melodies. Cayo Coco’s song “Ghosts Talk” is a stunning mix of ethereal singing and playful guitar, with a shifting tine throughout the song.   

Lyrics...

The lyrics create an almost a self-belief anthem, the idea of possibly you or the artist being this unseen spirit that is just trying their best. The background vocals reply to the main vocals with “It will get better”, and the second chorus of “What am I waiting for” then drops into a lower feeling of not being good enough with “Nothing” as the response. Having self-belief is hard when you are struggling in anything and Cayo Coco’s lyrics demonstrate this, in a soft and meaningful way

Production...

The production uses reverb giving it a sound that builds on the ghostly moans, it is so beautifully executed lending itself well to the themes of the track. The song has elements of Lofi guitars, which shifts to also an RNB aesthetic with the repeated lines “What am I waiting for”

Summary...

Cayo Coco is very niche in his theming across his own ghostly genre, looking at his music videos his creatively continues in this style. Pairing the lyrics to the visuals gives it a completely fresh and unique story. Using metaphors to represent not being seen or having a lot of self-doubts, speaks to many, something that is relatable to all
