About...
James Walsh is known for being the lead singer of Starsailor, he has returned with a string of solo acoustic evenings performing original and old songs to fans old and new. This evening was set in Leeds at the Old Woollen within Sunnybank Mills, Farsley. Callum Spencer (who you can also check out on the live review page) was support just before James came out to perform.
Set Up...
Having performed all over the world from headline tours to several Glastonbury’s its clear to see James is in his element when on stage and that’s where his voice and story are captivatingly told. James graced the warm intimate venue with just his Guitar ready to take the audience through a ride of original tracks and sing-alongs with fan favourites throughout the years
Set List...
The set featured a carefully curated list of tracks that added dynamic to the night, from slow thoughtful notes within ‘The Ghost In Me’ to more upbeat and anthemic tracks such as ‘Four To The Floor’, the tracks were always moving and never repeated. James’ second to last track was an ode to the Beatles with ‘In My Life’ as he joked that he never expected them to release a new track whilst he’d be alive
Summary...
Overall, this was a great evening, full of warm acoustic music from Callum and James within a cosy venue. The atmosphere matched with people delighted to see James again and relive their favourite songs stripped back for them to sing along and admire. With a string of Starsailor shows at the end of the year to celebrate 20 years of album ‘Silence Is Easy’ I bet James can’t wait to get back on the road with the band again
