Yasmin Coe - No Hope
About...
Yasmin Coe is a Manchester based singer-songwriter, combining heart-wrenching lyrics with jangly guitar-pop her sound is truly her own. ‘No Hope’ is Jasmin’s debut single exploring the idea of new loneliness losing the reassurance of having someone by your side
Lyrics...
The lyrics talk about the realisation when you separate from someone and find out you were relying on them the whole time, feeling lost and unable to manage on your own. The Chorus talks abouts their only hope to laugh with that person again removing their worries, with the outro saying ‘Hope’s a silly thing to have’
Production...
The track has a coming of age feel with its tight mix and reverb flushes in the chorus. The Guitar reminds me of Tears For Fears and the vocal performance creates realism within the lyrics with Jasmin’s slightly blunt and short tone
Summary...
This is a great debut from Jasmin both from a sonic and song writing prospective, coming at us with an industry worthy piece. The track also shows she is aware of her style and imagine, which I’m excited to see where it travels in her 2024 EP
